Al Green (Forrest City, Arkansas, 13 april 1946) is een Amerikaans gospel- en soulzanger en dominee. Hij is één van de populairste soulzangers aller tijden, die zijn grootste successen heeft behaald in het begin van de jaren zeventig.

"Simply Beautiful" is a 1972 song by Al Green from his album I'm Still in Love with You. It was sampled by Kanye West for Talib Kweli's song "Good To You," on Kweli's 2002 album Quality (album). Hip Hop group G-Unit also sampled the song on "Good To Me", from their popular mixtape, "Return of the Body Snatchers". Mary J. Blige's "PMS" sampled the song on her 2001 album, No More Drama. Destiny's Child sampled the song on the track "Bridges" from their self-titled debut album that was released in 1998.

Mooie stem, verder enorm slaapverwekkend. Kan ook aan mij liggen omdat dit niet zo in mijn straatje past hoor.

Wonderschoon. Geniaal. Niet te overtreffen. In al zijn simpelheid zo mooi. Dit soort nummers is de reden waarom muziek zo belangrijk voor me is.

Ik ben geen bovenmatige soulliefhebber, maar dit is prachtig. Het schurkt aan tegen de blues en is een rauwe expressie van muzikale beleving.

Wanneer een nummer alleen gitaar (of 2 gitaren) plus stem is, dan komt t echt aan op wat met dat weinige wordt gedaan en hoe dat bij de luisteraar binnenkomt. De gitaarpartij vind ik niets bijzonders, waardoor het zich onderscheidt van andere gitaarbegeleidingen. De stem van Al Green vind ik in bepaalde nummers erg fijn, en hier is t degelijk maar komt niet enorm binnen om te gaan meeresoneren. Vandaar een 7tje
